Elizabethan House Museum

Tucked away on South Quay, the Elizabethan House Museum is one of Great Yarmouth's hidden gems. This beautifully preserved 16th-century merchant's house offers a unique look into Tudor and Victorian domestic life.

What to See

Explore wood-panelled rooms furnished as they would have been in Tudor and Victorian times. The interactive kitchen lets you handle replica objects from the period. A conspiracy room tells the story of a Civil War plot that was hatched within these very walls. The building itself, with its creaking floors and low doorways, is atmospheric and fascinating.

South Quay

The museum sits on South Quay, one of the most historic streets in Great Yarmouth. This riverside quay was once the commercial heart of the town, lined with the grand houses of wealthy merchants. Several other historic buildings can be seen along the quay.

Visitor Information

The museum is open during school holidays and selected dates. Check opening times before your visit. It is a short walk from the town centre and seafront.
