Your Norfolk Adventure Starts Here: A Week from Great Yarmouth

Great Yarmouth, with its vibrant seafront and classic seaside charm, makes an excellent base for discovering the diverse beauty of Norfolk. And what better place to call home during your adventure than the St George Hotel? Located just a few minutes' walk from the beach and opposite the iconic Wellington Pier, the St George Hotel offers comfortable and affordable rooms, free parking and WiFi, making it ideal for exploring the region. Plus, with our convenient location at 7-10 Albert Square, you're right in the heart of the action. From here, you can easily access all the main attractions of Great Yarmouth and beyond.

Day 1: Settle into Great Yarmouth

After arriving at the St George Hotel and settling into your room (check out our rooms - single, double, twin, family and quadruple rooms available!), spend the afternoon exploring Great Yarmouth itself. Take a stroll along the Golden Mile, enjoy traditional fish and chips, and perhaps try your luck at the arcades. Don't miss the Pleasure Beach (just an 8-minute walk!), a classic seaside amusement park, or SEA LIFE Great Yarmouth, a mere 3-minute walk away. In the evening, enjoy a relaxing dinner at one of the many restaurants in town.

Day 2: Discover the Norfolk Broads

No trip to Norfolk is complete without exploring the Norfolk Broads. Just a short drive (or bus ride – about 3 miles) from Great Yarmouth, you can hire a boat and spend the day cruising along the tranquil waterways. Pack a picnic and enjoy the stunning scenery, spotting local wildlife along the way. Consider visiting Wroxham, often called the 'capital of the Broads', or exploring the quieter reaches of Hickling Broad.

Day 3: Historic Norwich

Take a day trip to Norwich, a city steeped in history and culture. Explore Norwich Cathedral, a magnificent example of Norman architecture, and wander through the charming cobbled streets of the city centre. Visit Norwich Castle, browse the independent shops in the Norwich Lanes, and enjoy a delicious lunch at one of the many cafes and restaurants. The market place is a bustling hub of activity and a great place to soak up the local atmosphere.

Day 4: Coastal Delights: Cromer & Sheringham

Head north along the coast to explore the charming seaside towns of Cromer and Sheringham. Cromer is famous for its crabs, so be sure to sample some fresh seafood. Visit Cromer Pier, enjoy a traditional Punch and Judy show, and explore the RNLI Henry Blogg Museum. Sheringham offers a more relaxed atmosphere, with its beautiful beach, independent shops, and the North Norfolk Railway, where you can take a steam train ride through the countryside.

Day 5: Seals at Horsey Gap

Witness the amazing sight of hundreds of seals basking on the beach at Horsey Gap. This is a truly unforgettable experience, especially during the winter months when the seal pups are born. Be sure to keep a safe distance from the seals and follow the guidance of the local wardens. After visiting the seals, explore the nearby village of Winterton-on-Sea, with its beautiful beach and dunes.

Day 6: A Day on Great Yarmouth Beach

Dedicate a day to enjoying the beach right on your doorstep! Great Yarmouth's sandy beach is perfect for building sandcastles, paddling in the sea, or simply relaxing and soaking up the sun. Enjoy fish and chips, ice cream and other seaside treats. You might even want to try your hand at some traditional seaside games.

Day 7: Relaxation and Departure

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and perhaps a final stroll along the beach before departing from the St George Hotel. Depending on your travel plans, you could squeeze in a final visit to one of Great Yarmouth's attractions, such as the Time and Tide Museum, before heading home. Remember to book your next stay with us!

This is just a suggested itinerary, of course. You can tailor it to your own interests and preferences.
